Secret Turn-Ons
“Sexual fetishes, when people are sexually aroused by specific materials or objects and are generally unable to achieve sexual satisfaction without them, are real and diverse. They become fixations, and are more than just sexual kinks. Psychiatrists say that they are far more common in men than in women, and men prefer to keep their fetishes a secret. However, their obsessions do get them into legal trouble sometimes. ‘Most men with fetishes don’t consult us. They’re too shy to do so and they find the problem embarrassing,’ said Dr Adrian Wang, a consultant psychiatrist at Gleneagles Medical Centre. Dr Brian Yeo, consultant psychiatrist at Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre, agreed. ‘If their fetish could be easily accommodated by their partners, they would see no need to visit a psychiatrist,’ he said. However, Dr Calvin Fones, a consultant psychiatrist, observed that it is very unusual to have consensual agreement between spouses regarding sexual fetishes. ‘If something’s done once, the woman finds it kinky. But if done 10 or 20 times, then she thinks it’s perverted. Such fetishes are seldom mutually enjoyable,’ he said. Men with sexual fetishes often suffer from low self-esteem and are unable to relate to the opposite sex, said Dr Yeo. As a result, some men resort to molestation, underwear theft or even stealthily take photos up women’s skirts to achieve satisfaction. Research has been unable to pin down exact causes of sexual fetishes, but psychiatrists agreed that they usually develop from young. According to Dr Fones, a sexual fetish usually develops when a teenager or adolescent associates an object with sexual gratification. ‘It sticks in his mind and persists until adulthood, like a bad habit,’ he said.” — The Straits Times (China)
This article was published as a follow-up to the Singaporean man who, in an effort to satisfy his armpit-sniffing fetish, molested a number of women and was subsequently sentenced to 14 years in prison and 18 strokes of the cane. Evidently the Straits Times thought the armpit-sniffing thing was inscrutable and thus offered up some expert opinion on sexual fetishes. For example, the experts assert that fetishism is more common in men than women. This is the conventional wisdom, though you have to wonder if it’s not a matter of men harboring more fetishes but rather of being more aggressive in pursuing them. The experts also haul out that old canard about fetishists having low self-esteem. Maybe some fetishists feel insecure about their fetishes precisely because society frowns so strongly on them. But is fetishism intrinsically linked to low self-esteem? It’s tough to look at all the sex-positive activity online and in life nowadays and maintain that every one of those perverts is an insecure Prozac-swilling neurotic.
The day before this article about fetishism appeared in the Straits Times, Yahoo published an article titled “Brain Scientists Discover Why Adventure Feels Good.” The article summarizes research in which scientists used brain scans to measure blood flow. They discovered that “a brain region known as the ventral striatum was more active when subjects chose unusual objects in controlled tests.” What this means is that there is a brain mechanism that physically rewards adventurousness. “Scientists believe the existence of this age-old reward mechanism indicates there is an evolutionary advantage in sampling the unknown.” The article speaks about the research in the light of gambling, drugs, and consumerism — but doesn’t it also pertain to sex? To fetishism? Such a brain mechanism doesn’t explain why a fetishist prefers armpits or feet, but it does tell you that the fetishist is acting out a behavior conditioned by evolution. Sniffing armpits may not cause you to triumph in a survival-of-the-fittest world, but the underlying adventurousness is itself an evolutionary advantage.
This may help explain why there really is no cure for fetishism or why it can’t be eliminated from human behavior in general. Nature itself rewards the daring — even when the daring ones, as in sex, may be doing something “unnatural.”
This might explain why I hang around outside school gates, talking to 12yr old girls. They are sweet like candy, and then become bitches a 16/17.
everyone of us has kinks we like, it’s just when those kinks are put on non consenting or under aged persons that it becomes wrong and harmful, i like to bite my guys and have them spank me but that is perfectly ok because they are never under age, i’m a grown woman and both of us are always consenting, it’s always (most of the time) done only in the privacy of my own home, it’s when these kinks are not managed for the benefit of yourself, your partner and in respect to those around you that it becomes a problem, i say that every one has fetishes, and that if we were a little more open with our selves and our partners about them then sex becomes really good and boredom can be staved off, why not celebrate our kinks instead of feeling ashamed of them, don’t hide what you like guys we women like to know what turns you on, it might not be my thing that your into scat and wearing nappies but that still is most helpful to know, it means as long as you don’t rub your sh*t on me or eat it around me then i don’t mind changing your nappies and dressing up like a naughty nanny and spanking you for wetting your nappy so you see, both get what they want with if guys would just be more open.
I think its fairly obvious what I’m into by my user name.
The actress Tiffani-Amber Thiessen has a great pair of tits. Have you seen the film “Sweet Dreams”?, The jacuzzi scene! Phwoar. I’d like to grab those from behind.
I suspect that having a hang-up on breasts would not be considered a fetish in the purest sense of the word, at least not in the west. Fetishes are concerned with sexualized objects and activities that are not normally associated with sex. Breasts are, though, technically, their basic function is non-sexual. Perhaps being a breast-man in a culture that does not sexualize breasts might be considered fetishism. Hmmmmm…
P.S: That adult baby shit is beyond my comprehension. I have a pretty good idea of how my kinks originated, but I simply can’t imagine what a person would have to experience as a young adult to sexualize acting like a baby, and getting diapers changed, etc.
i’m just trying to make an example, light bdsm is my thing, but i was trying to make the point that if people were more open about their kinks, then they might not go around molesting unsuspecting people.
p.s krovas, i’m not into adult babies, nor am i one but if a guy told me he was one i wouldn’t think any less of him, i would be the nanny not the adult baby,it’s for me all about their submission and role play.
I like to have my mouth washed out with soap while being flogged/spanked.
There is nothing more deliciously humiliating than being seen by people with a bar of soap sticking out of my face and tears streaming down my cheeks.
YUMMY!
But the, I’m a 23 year old woman, and the gentleman who are spanking me are usually just a little older than myself.
