Happy 5th Birthday to PervScan

It would be remiss to allow the month of May to pass without pointing out that PervScan has been chronicling, analyzing, and satirizing deviant doings for five years now. The site was officially launched on 1 May 2003. You might think that, in the blogosphere, being five years old is like being a grandparent in real life. But Wikipedia notes that the first blogs began to appear in the mid-1990s, so evidently PervScan does not yet need to sign up for the web equivalent of the American Association of Retired People. And at the moment, the site has no intention of retiring anyway.

Since 2003 there have been superficial changes — designs have been revised, advertising has gone up and down in prominence — but the focus of the site has remained razor sharp. Some prominent users and commenters have come and gone over the years. (Intothewind, where are you?) To the best of PervScan’s knowledge, no commenter has been around for more than three years or so. It is difficult to say whether this reflects on PervScan or on a larger trend about blog readership. Have any of you been reading the site for more than two or three years? Is there anything about the site that you’d particularly like to change? (It’s difficult to predict whether users prefer a site to innovate or remain the same. There was an uproar recently when one popular site introduced a new design. Its users were so dismayed that they set up their own site and copied the old design.)

If you’d like to offer a birthday wish to PervScan, you could do no better than to buy a copy of Supervert’s books Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish and Necrophilia Variations. Meanwhile, many thanks to all of you for so much thoughtful and stimulating input. Have you noticed that there are six times as many comments as posts on the site? It’s not just PervScan that’s been blogging since 2003. It’s you too. Thanks.

I’m not sure. I know I’ve been reading for around three years, maybe a little less, maybe a little more. I think that the reason people stop frequenting this site is because after a while, it just all seems the same. I hear stories from people all the time that freaked them out and my response is along the lines of “oh. yeah. well that’s nothing compared to the guy who….” and it’s partly because of this site. People come here seeking extreme deviance, and they get it, and then it doesn’t seem so extreme anymore, so they get bored.

Happy Birthday PervScan! i have been reading you for a couple years now. who can get bored of all the imaginative doings going on here on this planet? i suspect the coming and going is more a question of time. there is only so much time in the day but the amount of perversion seems to be ever increasing. also most commenters are probably finally discovered, arrested and sent away for a long, long time….

If you think you guys are jaded, imagine Supervert’s brain… Once or twice a year, though, there seems to be some insane incident that jars all the encrusted perversion loose. The cannibal who wanted to eat his own penis — the guy who fucked a dead deer on the side of the road — and so on — these things land like bombs in the sediment of cynicism and send all the dust flying…

Been reading for 5 years dude! I had been actively looking for something like pervscan in the months before it came along, as I had become increasing obsessed with girls asses from march 2003 onwards(hence my email address).

Your site goes from strength to strength but the internet is a bit 2004 now. We need a book, and a documentary on dvd.

Maybe all the commenters should meet up in New York City for an orgy?

Never really thought about it, but I guess my own time line’s rather like Sven’s. I can only say I’ve lived where I do for two years. I found Pervscan when living at my last address, I was there three. Somewhere in there then …

Not sure I see reason to fix what isn’t broken, ‘Vert. The girls in the shots we see to the right are not to my taste and I’m bored with the same, overly made up ones every night. But so what? I’m sure many more think they’re fine and I don’t have to study them.

What I quite often Do look at though are the book links. I like those :-) Some incredible shit in print out there.

Anyway; Many Happy Returns, Pervscan!

Many happy returns….please! Superb insight herein, and it is a fine thing to have a forum in which to explore the “None so strange as folk” adage. As for keeping it fresh, human imagination being what it is, I’m sure any second now we’ll have the next dust-busting weirdness bomb. I simply cannot wait to read all about it!
Thanks much.

Little late with my wishes …

Happy as they are…

I think I’ve been reading for about two years I’m sure I could look back through the archives and find my first comment.

(I’m still waiting for a Supervert T-shirt)

Happy belated birthday. I’ve been lurking about for a bit. I second the idea of a Supervert t-shirt.
