Porn Viewer Blames Search Engines

“A man who downloaded more than 16,000 indecent images of children has tried to blame search engines for his crime. William Dalgleish, 67, of Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway, admitted the offence after police raided his home. Dalgleish’s lawyer told the High Court in Glasgow that he had subscribed to an apparently legitimate news website and accessed the images through that. However, the court also heard he had admitted being ’sexually interested’ in children… Susan Burns, defending, said Dalgleish felt the material was too easy to access. ‘He feels that he would not have committed these offences if this information was not so freely available,’ she said. ‘He feels if companies like Google did not provide access to such sites, he would not have committed the offences.’ Dalgleish admitted downloading and possessing a total of 16,535 indecent photos and movie clips… Paul Kearney, prosecuting, said: ‘He admitted being sexually interested in children. ‘He indicated that the bulk of this material related to children — male and female — aged between eight and 14 and that he understood that these images were of children being sexually abused.’” — BBC (UK)

It is true that the internet has made it much easier to find illicit porn than it was even a decade ago. Anyone over the age of 30 might remember getting sweaty palms standing by the magazine counter at the local drugstore and trying to steal glimpses of the porn rags. Those days are gone. Want to ogle girls? It takes literally a nanosecond to find pictures and videos. Want to ogle little girls? Little girls fucking dogs? Dogs fucking grown men in the ass? Grown men fucking — well, whatever. It’s out there and you know it.

Of course, just because it’s out there doesn’t make it legal. You could make the argument that the existence of illicit porn demonstrates enough desire for it that societies ought to reevaluate what is or isn’t acceptable. Meanwhile, though, the fact remains that local laws govern what you can view on the internet. Many people break those laws with impunity. If you stumble on an illicit image accidentally, the federals probably won’t burst into your home and lead you away in handcuffs. But if you gather up sixteen thousand such images, it’s clearly no longer an accident. To collect demonstrates intent.

For that reason alone, it’s absurd for Mr. Dalgleish to blame search engines for his behavior. Add to that the fact that in 2001 he was convicted of indecent assault and it seems pretty obvious whom Mr. Dalgleish should blame for his porn habit. He certainly knew this himself because, weirdly, he had evidently tried to keep himself away from children. He made himself into a “recluse” because he “recognised he had a problem with young girls.” How noble of him. Given how ridiculous it is for him to blame search engines for his problem, it wouldn’t be surprising if his reclusion really had another motive. Far from protecting the local girls, he was probably just too busy downloading and jerking off to bother leaving the house.

Apart from the fact that it was once thrust upon me as an act of evil and upset me terribly to see it, I’d simply be scared to death they Would come kicking my door in.

Husk: You don’t need to buy drugs to know there are drug dealers on the street corner.

More importantly, when does this private collection go up for police auction?

There’s some pretty raunchy stuff floating around the net; what is the worst everyone around here has come across, inadverntently or not?

PervScan recommends that no one answer Guru’s question. “Inadvertently or not” can leave for a wide range of interpretation. If you want to implicate yourself in a crime, walk into a police station already. Leave PervScan out of it.

Well, I didn’t mean child porn, more like classics like lemon party, meat spin, and the infamous Mr. Hands. Although, imagine the irony considering a story about a guy getting investigated over a comment on PervScan would actually make a perfect PervScan article. “Man arrested after web comment sparks investigation”.

Understood, Guru. It’s just important to make sure that people realize their behavior can have consequences. You’d be surprised how quick people are to incriminate themselves sometimes. And if they want to incriminate themselves, that’s their business. However, to incriminate themselves via PervScan can create hassles for the site, and that’s where the line gets drawn.

Man arrested after web comment sparks investigation”.

Associated Press, Clinton, Iowa

David Benson, aged 18, of Clinton and Camanche, Iowa, was yesterday arrested by Camanche Police Department Corporal Richard Schmitz.

Mr. Benson, who frequently runs away from home, usually only after removing the hard disk from his computer, which contains 500,000 images of child porn, was arrested for possession of 19 tons of marijuana, harassing schoolgirls, downloading child porn, and blackmailing girls over MSN. Mr. Benson, along with his friend “Lance”, or somewhereville, Indiana, engaged in lewd chat with young girls via msn, and then threatened to send webcam pictures to their family and school, unless they reinforced their self esteem and made them feel good about themselves.

Mr. Benson is facing 20 years incarceration for the child porn offences alone. He also asked for 49 million other offences to be taken into consideration.

In a touch of irony, David Benson’s father is a retired cop, who regularly beats his son, and his girlfriend “Kayleigh”, with a billy club, for being such lamerz. Mr. Benson once boasted online that he fingers 12yr olds, and that is not just Kayleigh either. Kayleigh turned out to be 17, which made David Benson look like a cake addict from the Czech Republic.
