PervScan first stumbled on the Sneeze Fetish Forum last year while researching something entirely unrelated. Somehow perusing the forum and reading all the loving descriptions of various sneezes makes for a warm, fuzzy feeling. When you study and think about sexual perversions, you get used to the idea that the bulk of them are dark, often dangerous, sometimes despicable. Consequently, to contemplate those freaks who delight at the eruption of a sneeze leaves you feeling almost like you’re watching a weekend morning cartoon. It’s sort of funny and totally harmless, provided the fetish doesn’t progress to assaulting people with pepper to make them sneeze.
Perhaps the innocuous, slightly humorous quality of sneeze fetishism is what enabled this intrepid reporter to provide such a lengthy write-up. It’s rather amazing. Usually journalists like to hang their stories on a newsworthy peg, meaning an event — a crisis, an election, that sort of thing. In this case, the advent of allergy season provides the thinnest excuse for the story. After a few words on allergies and the physiology of sneezing, the rest of the considerable article asks the seemingly impossible question: Why? Why would anyone get their rocks off on sneezing? The reporter calls in a few experts but can’t really answer the question because, let’s face it, either you buy into a psychoanalytical theory or two or you group the question with those big ones with which you wrestle in Philosophy 101. How big is outer space? When did time begin? Is there a God? Why is there something rather than nothing? How do people come to get their jollies from sneezing?
Having remarked on how literate and appealing the sneeze-fetishists were last time around (genetic links? Someone please investigate this), I was interested in the eight years old thing. I’d say it was both – the bases are there by the time you’re eight, but they’re refined as you age.
It never ceases to amaze me how many things are fetishized.
And for the reccord, I have the cutest sneeze ever.
I believe people are turned on by sneezing because it represents a loss of control in some way, a momentary loss of control over the state one is in, to give way to a reflex, and an involved flexing of many of the body’s muscles including the hips. This loss of control, and seeing people go through this biological act and not usually seeing them do it on a regular basis, this involved flexing of the muscles that effects to some extent the hip muscles is what gives the fetish its potency. On another note, I laughed to myself when I read the line “It’s sort of funny and totally harmless, providing it doesn’t progress to assaulting people with pepper to make them sneeze”.
Read “The Sneeze”, by Anton Szandor LaVey in his book Satan Speaks. He dissects the stimulation that sneezes give… he equates both sneezes and orgasms as “mini deaths”, and they are therefore able to cause pleasure. Plus, he gives tips on the best ways to produce sneezes by finding the nose “S Spot” of sorts…a kind of nasal masturbation.
