“A conman who made millions selling sperm to lesbians was jailed yesterday. John Gonzales, 45, hit the headlines in 2003 when he started an internet firm charging up to £2,000 a time to women who wanted a tot. Two years later the notorious www.mannotincluded.com website — which earned him the title Seedy Gonzales — went into liquidation with debts of more than £220,000. But Gonzales kept selling sperm on the web. A probe by the Department for Business and Enterprise revealed he lied to officials, forged documents and falsified debts in order to avoid handing over his assets and continue trading under a different name. He invented debts of more than £100,000 and claimed they were owed to a firm in Cyprus. Finally his business collapsed last year. Gonzales — who called himself the Stelios of sperm and lived the high life on the Costa del Sol in Spain — owed £21,000 to the courier firm that delivered the samples. No money was owed to donors for the site. But it is still unclear where Gonzales obtained the sperm. Two years ago health experts warned that buying sperm over the internet was dangerous. Seedy Gonzalez’ site is no longer online, but at archive.org you can still see what mannotincluded.com once looked like. The site had a relatively professional appearance, complete with an icon made of clip art and some stock photography of a happy little baby. (Seedy must have had to use stock photography because babies for which his business was responsible probably looked like him.) Seedy offered a menu of prices ranging from several thousand to about five thousand British pounds. At the current exchange rate, that’s about ten thousand U.S. dollars. In comparison to other services, which charge upwards of a hundred dollars, the price seems high. Then again, Seedy claimed to throw in a number of inseminations, counselling sessions, pregnancy tests, etc.

Here is a picture of Seedy Gonzalez. Though it looks like he could stand to lose a few pounds, he’s kind of cute. But do you think he’s cute enough to be offering his sperm to one and all? To be clear, no one is saying that it was his own sperm he was selling. However, he is being indicted for all manner of fraud and “it is still unclear” where he procured the precious spunk he sold on his web site. Which would you do if you were an internet scam artist: pay anonymous donors for their sperm? Or wank off into a FedEx package and lie about it later?
