Naked Couple Die From Rooftop Fall
“Police on Wednesday were investigating how a naked couple fell 50 feet from the roof of a downtown office building to their deaths. The bodies were found on the road by a passing cabdriver around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Clothing was discovered on the roof, leading authorities to suspect the man and woman, in their early 20s, may have been having sex. One source has identified the young couple. Here is their picture — nice-looking kids. The girl’s last name was Tumbleston. The black humorists in the audience will no doubt be making jokes about taking her for a “tumble.”
Here is a picture of the building. To a New Yorker, it does not look particularly tall — but obviously it’s tall enough to kill anyone who slides off it. Evidently the roof is “pyramid-shaped metal, likely slick on a damp morning.” You can pretty well imagine what happened. The pair (who were co-workers at a nearby restaurant) snuck out on the roof. Maybe they thought it was exciting. Maybe they had done it before. Maybe they were in the parking garage next door and just started poking around for a place they could be alone. One thing leads to another. In the heat of passion they slip. “Shit,” the boy sputters, trying to grab a hold of something. The girl cries out the boy’s name. The boy screams. Then there’s flailing in the air and moaning on the ground. They survived the fall… for maybe half an hour.
Death by misadventure — it happens sometimes. There have been a number of stories here featuring people whose desires lead them straight through sex and into the abyss. Disturbingly, when a guy suffocates himself in a fetish mask or lets a horse fuck him to death, the perversity of his desire tends to blot out the misfortune of his demise. People almost seem to think that these perverts deserved their sad ends, as though perversity warrants its own punishment.
In this case, though, there was plainly nothing perverse. It’s just a hell of a sad story. RIP, kids.

Scott, no it’s not a joke. I believe in people who obey the lord, and couldn’t care less for those who work against him.
Our church is one of the only places where people live to the word of God, through the Holy Bible, from cover to cover. Don’t try to make me or any prophet feel bad because we know the standard and stick to it.
These people were engaging in pre-marriage sins, and look what happens: they just happened to die the same night, a clear indication of the Lord’s work. Instead of mourning these stupid people and feeling sad for their loss, we should be rejoicing that God exercised his words. I hope their parents live to a higher standard than their children.
How do you know they’re not married? Have you ever thought that maybe Ms. Tumbleson just wanted to keep her last name? And if you had any understanding of physics you’d realize they were almost certainly in the missionary position (or else - oh no! - woman on top) and not committing sodomy at all.
For that matter, have you ever even read the bible? Are you familiar with the story of Job? If you had any understanding of Christianity you’d know that material lose, even death is no more a punishment than gain or life. The worthy can not be hurt by the unworthy because because they understand this, they know that what matters is the state of their soul, and so they can suffer any loss and still rejoice and praise God. That’s why I don’t care what you think, you heretic.
You also need a lesson on logic, in addition to physics and Christianity. Two people are having sex on a roof and fall off. That they both died isn’t really such a huge coincidence that you need to imagine that God came down from on high to reach out to two sinners and intervene in their insignificant, material, life. Did God do this because damnation of their souls wasn’t enough punishment? If God really cared about such things, and intervened in the material world, why do you think you or some other Phelps hasn’t won the lottery?
To not use your reason is to deny the gifts God has given us. Go read your bible and try to understand what it means.

You clearly hate the word of God, and I have no time for people who trust what their dark heart says, rather than their brain or soul. You know they were sinning, I know they were sinning and so does God.
I’d suggest reading all of the Bible, not just picking and choosing what you see fit, or what’s on your terms. Be thankful for ALL of God’s judgements, instead of living a life of denial.

Funny how my tactic is to make logical inferences from aphorisms in the bible, to widely accepted teachings of Christianity. And then your tactic is to say that I hate god.
I’m far more pious than you are, I actually look to the bible and what it tells us to do rather than shunning anyone who disagrees with me and ignoring what the bible actually says.
Here’s a couple more passages maybe you should re-read: The Sermon on the Mount - the meek shall inherit the earth. The scapegoat of the tribes of Israel - you must atone for your sins, and if you honestly repent you are forgiven. Johan and Sodom and Gahmorrah - you must embrace sinners and genuinely ask them to repent. Basically everything Jesus ever said - love your brothers and sister.

If god intervenes in the material world to punish the wicked and reward the penitent, tell me what Catherine Phelps did. She died when she was 28, clearly she committed a great impiety, so what was Fred Phelps’s mother’s offense?
I think you’re misunderstanding my point. I’m not asking a question or making an argument about sodomy, homosexuality, or what is a sin.
Rather, what I’m disagreeing with you on is that the material conditions of someone’s life - and whether they live or die - means anything to God in the face of eternal damnation. The idea that people get what they deserve, so if they die then they must have done something wrong. The things of this world are temporal and meaningless.

But looking at your website, I have a question related to my last question: You have a press release (I guess that’s what it is) titled “A message from WBC to lawmakers on legislation regarding her counter-demonstrations at funerals of dead soldiers.” In it, WBC says: “It is no

If Iraqis bombing US troops is an act of God, isn’t that bombing of WBC an act of God? Isn’t that God’s punishment? If so, what were you being punished for? If not, why is the one an act of god (and this couple dieing an act of God) but the other isn’t an act of God?
