Fun place to be as long as you stayed away from the street hustlers and drugs and didn't get busted by the police for doing anything illegal. One rule of thumb was "don't mess with any types of streetwalkers." The clubs were the best places if you wanted a girl (a real one). They all worked for a mama-san (boss) and none could leave if she didn't get her cut first. Of course if you had any problems with the girl, you could tell the mama-san and they would take it from there. They had a reputation to protect and did not need the services of the police usually...they handled it themselves.
