“Troy Lee Easley, 44, of Longview was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexual assault… Easley denied any wrongdoing during a March 16 interview with a Bedford investigator, saying that he touched the patient only on the arms and that he did not perform any medical procedure that involved touching the patient below the waist… According to the affidavit, the woman gave the following account to police: On March 11, she had been in the hospital 10 days being treated for Crohn’s disease. On that day, an orderly took her to an exam room for a CT scan, where she first met Easley, a CT-scan technician. Easley conducted the exam. The woman told police that he gave her ‘the creeps’ by telling her that she was pretty, that he didn’t like the amount of traffic in the CT room and that he wished it was more private. Later that day, the woman was told a problem had occurred with the CT scan and that another procedure would have to be scheduled. She was again taken to the CT room, and Easley was there. This time, Easley told her that it would have to be a rectal CT scan, and he took her to a small, private room near the CT exam room. He ordered her to stand near a wall and to bend over.

Here is a picture of Mr. Easley. There is a strange pinch to his mouth, like a person with no teeth clamping his lips together. No doubt getting a mug shot makes him tense, and he’s the sort of person who expresses it through his mouth. He probably grinds his teeth at night. The whole thing — the pinch of his lips — makes you imagine him being rather rough when attempting to “digitally penetrate” someone, especially when that penetration is without cause or consent.

Psychologically it must be a weird thing to be a medical professional. Eighty percent of the time that you spend poking your fingers into people’s body cavities, you’re probably disgusted. Fifteen percent of the time you’re indifferent. And five percent of the time you’re — why not call a spade a spade? — aroused. After all the old, diseased, and malformed bodies you get to see in intimate detail, it’s probably really exciting to see the occasional hottie. How can you not have a normal biological reaction? How can you not want to replace your finger with your member? “Honest, sweetheart, I get better readings with my penis.”

Of course, this natural reaction has to be suppressed. Imagine what would happen otherwise. If doctors and nurses and medical technicians were free to grope patients, beautiful people would hesitate to go to the hospital. They would languish with their diseases, ignore their wounds, shrug off their infections. Beautiful people would all die off, like the dinosaurs. And then who would be left to sell lipstick, model clothes, star in porn films?
