“A 35-year-old man appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday after he allegedly stole a corpse from a local mortuary and had sex with it, Mpumalanga police said. The man faces charges of breaking and entering, theft and violation of the body of a dead person, said Superintendent Abie Khoabane. His case was postponed to August 14 and he was remanded into police custody. ‘Police acted on a tip-off and went to an abandoned house behind the mortuary where we found the body. The suspect dragged the body out from the mortuary on Thursday evening to the [abandoned] house. A post mortem conducted on her revealed that the suspect did have sexual intercourse with her.’ The man was arrested after community members led police to his house, not far from the mortuary. The woman’s body was taken to Siza Funeral Services at 11am on Thursday after she died of natural causes. On Friday morning, an employee discovered that the mortuary had been broken into and that her body was missing. PervScan’s usual methodology is to focus on perverts, but in this case it seems appropriate to pause a minute and give Superintendent Abie Khoabane his due. This guy always seems to be the one making a statement about the most lurid incidents in all of Africa. Just recently he reported on the guy who hung himself after trying to poison his wife. On the same theme, there was the guy who tried to shoot his wife, missed, and so shot himself. There was the grandmother shot dead for her cellphone. There was the boy’s body found in an old fridge. The woman who found the human skeleton. The children doused with “methylated spirits” during an attack on a farm. The girl whose father raped her on the kitchen floor. The man who killed his children. The dead man found with his genitalia removed. And on a similar note, there was PervScan’s favorite Superintendent Khoabane episode — the woman found with private parts missing, about which the superintendent said: “No other wounds (except for her missing private parts) could be found on her body, so we are waiting for the autopsy to determine the cause of death.” Um, wouldn’t it kill you to have your vagina cut out of your body? What a job this guy must have…

In this case it’s Superintendent Khoabane versus the corpse fucker. The really peculiar thing here is not that the body of the victim should have been stolen from a mortuary for a bit of posthumous hanky panky. The peculiar thing is that she and her husband should have both died of natural causes in the span of a few weeks. It makes you want to put “natural” in quotes. Perhaps there is some other sort of hanky panky going on? Sometimes old people die in mysterious synchronicity, but the victim was only 45. And you’d think she must not have been too old a 45, since her body was still worth stealing from the morgue. Maybe they were poisoned? Maybe the necrophile knew her and wanted some action, at whatever the cost?

That’s pure speculation, of course. What is certain is that the perp gave the stiff a stiff one. “Definitely no condom was used. The postmortem found plenty of sperm in the woman’s vagina,” said Superintendent Khoabane. Well, why would a necrophile use a condom? To prevent pregnancy? Disease? It seems quite likely the use of condoms is shamefully rare among necrophiles, since about the only compelling reason for a necro to use a condom is to fill it with warm water and heat up the clammy object of his desire.
