Kurd Couple killed for 6 Minute Sex Video
“In Arbil, southern Kurdistan’s capital, a couple were killed after their pornographic video CD was distributed in the city’s market, according to news published in the Kurdish weekly Hawlati on Thursday. The couple were killed within one week. The woman’s body was found on Tuesday. The video is only 6 minutes and 10 seconds and it is taken on a mobile telephone, Hawlati stated. The event has been the topic of discussion all over Arbil and the religious community in the mosques issued decrees for clamping down on the couple, Hawlati added.” — KurdishMedia (London)
PervScan tried to find the original story in Hawlati, which apparently translates into “citizen” and is the only free newspaper published in Kurdistan, or at least the Iraqi portion of it. (”We publish things because we are brave, not because we are free,” one Hawlati journalist told this blogger.) Probably the original story is in this Hawlati archive, but PervScan couldn’t decipher whatever language that is, and there were no telling pictures (murky cellphone porn) to identify the article.
If you think you have it bad living here in America under President Bush, imagine what these poor souls have to endure. Apparently there are pockets of relative tolerance in Kurdistan, such as Sulaymaniyah, where there are actually adult theaters. But the rest of the area suffocates under that harsh Muslim law you see in Iran and Iraq. Just imagine being killed for a six-minute fuck recorded on a cellphone. To say that the punishment is disproportional to the offense is an understatement. Certainly it sends a frightening message to Kurdish youths. You can practically hear them saying, “We have sex because we are brave, not because we are lustful.”
What’s even more appalling is that, wherever there is repression, the repressers always seem to exempt themselves. According to some scandalous videotaped confessions broadcast on Arabic television last year, a Kurdish thug spoke about gay sex among terrorist recruits. Dig this:

Sheik Zana was criticized for having practically no political agenda — for being a “terrorist without a cause” — but perhaps his agenda was just unobvious. Perhaps he was not against imperialistic Americans or parasitic Jews. Perhaps he was just against straight sex. And maybe the couple in Arbil were killed not for making porn but for failing to make gay porn.
Maybe they were killed because of the low production values associated with cell phone video.
