Vampire Fan Charged With Cemetery Rape
“A man who allegedly lured underage girls to cemeteries via a vampire-related website has been indicted for rape and sodomy charges. Eric Fischer, 23, of Sayville, allegedly met girls on vampirefreaks.com and arranged to meet them in Long Island cemeteries but the 13-year-old girl that he thought he would meet turned out to be an undercover cop with the Suffolk County police department. Fischer is being held on $350,000 bail after pleading not guilty to 25 counts including rape, criminal sexual act, attempted dissemination of indecent materials to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child. He had been previously arrested in March and charged with third degree rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year old girl that he met through the website. In April, he allegedly lured a 13-year-old who was instead an undercover detective. Following an investigation, five other alleged victims were found ranging in age from 14 to 16. The age of consent in New York is 17. According to the indictment, Fischer used the screen name of xxmoonmelodyxx and allegedly sent explicit photos to an individual he thought was a 13-year-old girl for the purpose of inducing her to have sex with him. The cemetery where he attempted to lure his victims is owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.” — North Country Gazette (US)
Mr. Fischer’s screen name on vampirefreaks.com was sixstringsavoir. His profile page was suspended because the user was “under criminal investigation,” an admin noted. However, Google still has a cache of it. Interestingly, Mr. Fischer also maintained a second profile that has yet to be discovered by law enforcement or removed by the local admin. (Don’t these people know how to google?) It’s under the name loseratheart. The description is pretty much the same as the suspended one (did he use one for legitimate and one for illegitimate networking?). This yet-to-be-suspended account also has a number of pictures, like this one of Mr. Fischer in a graveyard. When you look at his friends, like numerous underage females that PervScan won’t point out but you can easily find, it’s plain the site serves — among other things — as a meat market for goth teens.
Mr. Fischer had several MySpace accounts — ericsfischerband, comatosemetal, bandbpromotions — all of which have been suspended. He also had his own web site, comatosemetal.com. This too has been suspended, but its pages remain in Google’s cache. The band’s biography page describes Mr. Fischer as the lead guitarist and states that there is “no force on earth to stop Comatose from gaining label status” — well, evidently the police force can put a halt to that. If Mr. Fischer ever manages to put up another online profile, no doubt he’ll add law enforcement to his list of dislikes.
What’s it all mean? In a certain respect, this is a run-of-the-mill story comparable to the ones you can currently find in the news about MySpace predators. They all express the same axiom: wherever teens hang out, predators follow. Mr. Fischer is young enough himself that it’s slightly weird to call him a predator — you wonder if some of his “victims” were more than willing. Nevertheless, in pursuing a thirteen-year-old he clearly crossed the line that divides peers from pedos.
From another vantage point, you might think it’s specious to file this story under the Necrophilia category based on the simple fact that Mr. Fischer chose a graveyard for his jailbait trysts. And yet these are very much the gods in the Goth mythos: death, graveyards, vampires, blood, moonlight, melancholy. If you search vampirefreaks.com for the term necrophilia, Google returns 99 pages of results. At first glance, it is incongruous to see young people — full of life, health, vigor, lust for experience — so enamored with mortality. Then again, perhaps it is precisely because they’re young that it interests them. When you get old, and when people around you start to drop dead of cancer and heart disease, all the pageantry of Goth culture begins to look innocent. A Goth flirting with death is like a teen flirting with an old man, unaware of the forces he may be eliciting from the depths. It’s fun to imagine that you’re doomed, ill-fated, star-crossed — until death really smashes into you like a stalactite falling from the sky. Then you wonder, after so many years of fantasizing about it, how you could have been so unprepared for the reality.
