Man Finds Friend’s Girlfriend Dead but Desirable
“A man was indicted on charges of having sex with a woman after she died, authorities said. Parker Clayton Ward of Forsyth County could face one to 10 years in prison after being charged with necrophilia. Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies said the woman’s boyfriend became concerned Dec. 27 when he couldn’t contact her. The boyfriend then called Ward and asked him to check on her, authorities said. Ward, 54, notified authorities that the woman had died. But investigators became suspicious from the body’s position and found the victim’s clothes disturbed by someone. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections web site, Mr. Ward spent time in prison in the 1970s and 1980s for half a dozen petty offenses — drug possession, car theft, and various crimes listed as “not available.” The site also lists his birthdate as 1932, which conflicts with the age reported in this necrophilia charge.
But that obviously doesn’t matter much. The numbers 54 and 64 probably situate his IQ better than his age. It’s less his actions that make him dumb — you can imagine the guy tempted by what must have seemed like a freebie — than his excuses. In the first place, why did he admit anything at all to authorities? If he didn’t ejaculate on the corpse, there’d be no proof of anything. In the second place, he notified authorities that the lady was dead, and yet he claimed not to know she was dead when he tried to fuck her. That doesn’t make sense. His actions contradict his words. And in the third place, he’d probably be better off claiming that he tried to hump her dead body. If he thought she was alive, authorities could charge him with intent to commit rape. If he thought she was dead, authorities wouldn’t have much to charge him with. Georgia apparently doesn’t have a law against necrophilia. He’d end up getting a slap on the wrist for “abuse of corpse,” which is a much less severe charge than attempted rape.
Furthermore, none of these possible indictments really get to the appalling thing about the case — which is that, in the hierarchy of dirty deeds, there are few baser things you can do to a buddy. After all, the woman is not really the victim in this case. She was already dead, so she suffered in no way by Mr. Ward’s impromptu attentions. But consider what he did to his friend. What a betrayal of trust!

Mr. Ward has now admitted to the dirty deed and been sentenced to four years in prison.
“Asked by Bagley what happened on that night of Dec. 27, Ward began by saying he was ‘pretty much drunk’ that night, having had about six rum drinks. He said the 43-year-old woman’s boyfriend asked him to check on her at her camper in the 2300 block of Canton Highway. Getting no answer, Ward called the boyfriend, who told him to break down the door. Inside, Ward found the woman lying in bed unresponsive. Several empty prescription pill bottles were nearby. ‘I checked her pulse, then tried to give her mouth to mouth,’ Ward told the judge. ‘I knew it was kind of wrong,’ Ward said before admitting under further questioning that he had sex with the corpse, then called 911… Authorities estimate she had been dead for about four hours. Her body was cold and rigor mortis had set in, authorities said.”
