Anti-Child Porn Author Climbs Lighthouse In Tiger Suit
“A man who climbed a St. Augustine lighthouse wearing a white tiger costume says he is trying to draw attention to fight against Internet child pornography. Frank Feldmann spent the night in jail after barricading himself in St. Augustine’s historic lighthouse and climbing onto the 16-story roof. Feldmann is the father of a 9-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy, and he has written a series of children’s books. The tiger suit is one he can be seen wearing in a Web site he uses to promote his books he has written. This wasn’t the first time he has drawn attention to himself. In 2003, he rode a carousel for 52 hours. Once he tried to climb an ‘impossible rock’ in Sioux Falls, S.D., with a companion in the middle of a river near a waterfall. In 2002, he distributed thousands of seashells on doorsteps in the Midwest. Inside each, a handwritten Web address offered a free copy of the children’s book. The article above neglects to mention that he planted two banners atop the lighthouse, one reading “4 MYDUKE” and the other “I HAVE A DREAM… ALSO.”
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s all applaud Mr. Feldmann for his consciousness-raising effort. Just how many Floridians lived in shameful ignorance of the kiddie porn problem plaguing our society until they looked down the beach and saw 4 MYDUKE waving gloriously in the breeze? No doubt senior citizens and beach bums alike spat up their orange juice, erased their hard drives, and hurried to join Perverted Justice in the crusade against child pornography.
Or maybe not. Seriously, while you hate to ridicule anyone’s effort to do a good deed, it’s difficult to see how climbing a lighthouse in a tiger suit can make any meaningful contribution to the cause. Hell, it’s not like the guy even hung a banner with the words “FIGHT NET PORN” or something. At the base of the tower he left a package labelled “Read This Now.” What do you think police found inside? A tract against pedophilia? A stirring summons to fight crimes against children? Nope — just a promise to damage the tower if police sought to interrupt him.
Make no doubt about it. This was a shameless publicity stunt by a guy who’s so obscure that his book isn’t even listed on Amazon. He must have tried to exculpate himself with that remark about internet pornography when he realized just how much he pissed off police, who charged him with breaking and entering, possessing burglary tools, and defacing a federal monument.
This asshole is a public menace. Why does he think this will do any good? If anything, it detracts from the honest efforts of the real crusaders. Just like Stephen Baldwin and every other street corner preacher, no body pays any attention to them, figguring them to be kooks.
I hope they burn him on the burglary charges.
Maybe he should get together with some young looking girls, do a sting thing on pedos, and create the White Tiger and the PussyKatts Detective agency…JINKIES !
