Sexual Injuries

“One in three people say they regularly suffer injuries during sex. And carpet burns have left two in five aching after a night of passion, according to a survey for sex shop chain Ann Summers. One in 10 have made an insurance claim after wrecking furniture as they canoodled with a lover. A third caused some I damage to their home — but most are too red-faced to make a claim. The bedroom is where most mishaps occur — with people knocking over lamps, pulling down curtains, smashing vases and breaking beds — said the poll of 2000 people. Ann Summers chief executive Jacqueline Gold said: ‘It’s fantastic that people are being more adventurous during sex but they do need to be careful.’ The most common injuries, suffered by four in 10 people, affect the knees, bottom, back and legs. Most keep their activities restricted to the bedroom but an adventurous one in five make love in the lounge. Halfway up the stairs is a favourite for one in 12, while the bathroom leaves one in 14 lovers feeling flushed. A spokesman for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said: ‘When people get carried away there is the risk that they are less aware of their surroundings — and that can be dangerous.’” — Daily Record (UK)

Even if you set aside people who court pain and injury during sex, it can still be astonishing how much injury you can suffer in the pursuit of pleasure. Carpet burns, bruises, scratches, sprains, even broken bones all find their place on the list of top ten sex injuries. Jennifer Aniston was just in the news for this sort of flesh wound.

And that’s just the obvious stuff! There are also a wealth of less apparent injuries, such as the discomfort that comes with the overuse of the genitalia themselves. Or the sometimes unpleasant side effects of the sexual use of the enema. Or the disastrous consequences of trying to have sex with a horse. Or the predictable results of trying to hide a hand grenade in your vagina. Or a thousand other awful wounds to private places.

Does all that pale, however, in comparison to a mere broken heart? Is it better to have loved and damaged than to never have loved at all?

Injuries during a variety of sexual positions can be avoided simply by having the right type of furniture. My friend the Bonk Master has designed the best adult jungle gym (Bonker) for any size bed double or larger that allows for a tremendous amount of positions without pain or injury for intercourse, oral sex or just plain exploration. The Bonker is a heart shaped device that has bases that fit between the boxspring and matress and the arms come up over the bed. The arms can be placed under the bed for storage easily and setup is 2 minutes. Additionally, there are a variety of straps and accessories such as the body sling, seat sling, leg straps, handles, cuffs, chains, etc. It holds up to 350 lbs per set and uses counterbalance, inertia and freefloating suspension. Its a spring, swing, sling, adult jungle gym. It allows 360 degree access to your partner and since it fits on the bed you won’t get rug burns, schaffing, ruining furniture, breaking of lamps or any other potential hazard with making love around the house.
