“Paul James Stewart Scott never wanted to have sex with a young girl, but only to ensure that he was killed, his public defender said Wednesday, seconding the account written by Scott’s wife shortly before the couple killed themselves outside their Boulder Canyon home. An arrest warrant by Colorado Springs police, however, says Scott wanted to have sex for a couple of days with a young girl before an older girl killed him… Patricia Birosik, Scott’s wife, sent a seven-page note to local news media in which she said her husband’s mental illness led him to want to arrange his own murder. He tried to arrange a sex-act-followed-by-murder scenario because that’s the only way he could get what he really wanted — his own death — she said. Colorado Springs police arrested Scott in March after he gave an undercover detective $12,000, purportedly to have sex with an 8-year-old and to have a 16-year-old smother him. He was charged with several felonies, but a plea bargain reduced it to one guilty plea to solicitation of child prostitution. If there’s anything positive to take away from this story, it’s that Mr. Scott’s wife was faithful to the end. Not only did she kill herself by his side, but she bought his bullshit about not really wanting to have sex with a little girl. Hm, on second thought, maybe there’s nothing positive about that at all. Mrs. Scott deluded herself that her husband wasn’t a creep. What’s rosy about that?

In a seven-page note Mrs. Scott lambasted the local authorities for failing to deal with her husband’s mental illness. She couldn’t understand why the justice system did not concern itself with his suicidal tendencies rather than with his attempt to find an 8-year-old to fuck him and a 16-year-old to smother him afterward. Well, there’s a simple reason, lady. It’s not illegal to have suicidal tendencies. It’s illegal to prostitute a child. Could that be any clearer?

What a con job! Maybe Mr. Scott really did want to die, and maybe authorities did him an injustice by not sending him for psychiatric treatment. However, there are a lot of ways that a man can kill himself that don’t involve raping children. He can shoot himself, hang himself, put a hand grenade up his ass and fart out the pin. None of those are purposefully harmful to little kids, so the next time somebody tries to tell you that suicide by Lolita is the only way to go, buy him a copy of Final Exit or show him how to slit his wrists.
