Man Given 20 Years for Having Sex with Tot
“A Washington man who admitted to having sex with a 2-year-old girl and her mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison yesterday — twice the time recommended by U.S. sentencing guidelines. District Court Judge Thomas M. Hardiman, who took a brief recess to ‘meditate,’ on the argument he heard from both sides regarding sentencing, said he felt it necessary to increase the period of incarceration because of the ‘heinous and despicable’ nature of the crime… Andrew Hlavac, 46, admitted to driving to Cameron County, picking up the girl, who had just turned 2 years old, and her mother, who is awaiting sentencing in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He drove the two of them back to his apartment, had sex with them both, and then returned them to their home. Several other men have also been charged in the case — both for having sex with the child and for possessing pornographic photos of her. In trying to defend his client, attorney John Knorr briefly outlined some of Mr. Hlavac’s background, saying that he wasn’t trying to make excuses for the man’s actions, just trying to add context. Mr. Hlavac claims he was molested at 9 years old and has always felt guilty about the drowning death of his 6-year-old brother while with Mr. Hlavac, who was 8 at the time. Mr. Knorr told the court that Mr. Hlavac didn’t start viewing child pornography until after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. At the time, the defendant was living in New York, and lost a number of friends that day, Mr. Knorr said. Mr. Hlavac also lost his job in the computer field and had difficulty finding another. ‘He had a great deal of time on his hands and began to dabble in child pornography,’ Mr. Knorr told the judge. But his client did more than that. He logged onto sexually explicit chatrooms, talking with others in more than 100 conversations about ‘mother-daughter love.’ He described himself as being ‘kinky’ and said he ‘loved the little ones — pain and torture.’” — Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (US)
It’s hard to argue with a judge throwing the book at a guy who molests a two-year-old. It’s one thing to be a little kinky. Hell, add a decade or so to the girl’s age and you can at least fathom why the guy might find her attractive. But it’s another thing entirely to lust after toddlers. PervScan once mentioned a story in which a man tried to have sex with a six-year-old and left her hopelessly damaged — intestines hanging between her legs. If that’s what happens when you try to force yourself on a six-year-old, imagine what could happen with a toddler. It ain’t pretty.
No doubt this is why the judge doubled the recommended sentence and also why, in anticipation of a harsh sentence, Mr. Hlavac’s lawyer tried to drum up some sympathy for the guy. Evidently it didn’t work, and yet it does raise an obvious difficulty. To what extent are people to be held responsible for actions that are conditioned by other circumstances? For example, a woman might receive a lighter sentence for killing her husband if it turns out that she was abused. But in such a case there is still a relatively close correlation of cause and effect. Abuse leads to self-defense. In Mr. Hlavac’s case, that whole sad-sack tale about 9/11, his own abuse, and his brother’s death just don’t contribute significantly enough to justify his actions. Psychologically, they may well have wounded him somehow — but it’s not as though every abuse survivor who witnessed 9/11 has to run out and screw a tot. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
And that being said, if the judge threw the book at this guy, what should he throw at the mother who pimps her own toddler? A whole library?
The devil made me do it!! Sorry bastard that he is, if he was any kind of man, he’d jump off a cliff or something instead of trying to curry favor from a judge. As it turns out now, the taxpayers have to foot the bill to feed and clothe his useless ass for the next 20 years.
It does seem to be quite a puzzle that Mr Hlavac could have some kind of sexual encounter with an adult apparently consenting female, and during the same session have some kind of sexual contact with the adult females’ two year old daughtor. I don’t know the details about what transpired, but it seems the whole scenario must have centered around some weird S&M persuit by Mr. Hlavic. i.e. the trust and violation of trust of Mother Daughtor, the devastation coused by such a relationship, the control which Mr. Hlavac would have while filling the vacuum caused by his devastation.
I feel shuch empathy toward every living creature, but the sadness of the severe betrayal which the two yewar old girl has suffered outweighs any good which may come from having any mercy toward Mr. Hlavic. He has gotten only a small fraction of the punishment which he deserves. I view this man as a severe danger to free society - it is my opinion that he should nerver be free to betray the innocence and decency of the human condition ever again.
As for the mother of the child, She should never see her daughtor again, and her incarceration should match Mr. Hlavic’s sentence AT A MINIMUM.
Something tells me though, she will get only a couple years or lightly supervised probation, with counseling and visits from Pennsylvanias’ laughable ‘Child Protective Services’.
In Pennsylvania, half of the state pays child support and the other half collects. Tens of tousands of out of state fathers pour in Millions of dollars into Pennsylvania anually in the auspice of child support. Pennsylvania collects its’ cut from all of these transactions, not to mention the direct bennifit of all this capital flowing inside the economy of Pennsylvania.
I hardly expect much justice to surface in the midst of such horrendous corruption which exists in Pennsylvania. My dicourse falls on deaf ears though, as Pennsylvania has one of the highest illiteracy rates in the nation.

Probably the mother was using the child as a means of getting sex from men. Maybe something about the woman makes it difficult for her to get men to have sex with her or she likes to have a certain control over the guy and this is the method she chose. She’d say something like “have sex with me and I’ll let you have sex with my kid”. Obviously she’s an unfit mother.
Firstly, the story about the 6 year old with the gaping hole should not be taken without a grain of salt. An adult male doesn’t just “have sex” with a 6 year-old and magically make a gaping hole in her (read the story and you’ll see what I mean).

Either that story has been exxagerated, or the man involved purposefully stabbed her with something (other than his penis). A man could injure a child by insistently penetrating her but the injury would be much less severe than the story would lead you to believe unless he was hell-bent on severly injuring her with some sort of object.
Also, I doubt that by the term “have sex” in this case with the 2 year-old that they mean he penetrated her. “Have sex with” means anything from manual manipulation to intercourse.
I think you need to take these stories with a grain of salt unless you know every tiny detail. Going off half-cocked saying “He kilt ‘er!” just leads to misinformation.
People who do things like this to a child should be shot. I agree with madashell in that why should society have to pay taxes to feed and clothe this piece of shit for the next twenty years?? Take him out behind the shed with the .45 and get it over with!!
Too bad California is such a whiney, liberal hand-wringing state when it comes to such matters. The most that happens in our huble state is Mister Sicko gets ten, twenty years or so in prison, and then gets out after serving only around half the time. I know pot growers who are serving longer sentences, for Chrissake!!!
My pop used to smack me and my sister aroind a lot when we were kids, and I can tell you from experience that abuse of any kind can, and often does, stunt a child’s emotional and mental growth for years to come. I personally came very close to killing my father on at least two different occasions. Nowadays, I am extremely protective towards children, and I can’t stand people who use their position of power or authority (parents, teachers, etc.) to intimidate, control, threaten, or to take advantage of the wonder, the trust, and the innocence of a child. I get so angry at these kinds of people that I often cannot think straight.
What is it going to take before we are able to reassess our priorities as a society, and really get serious about those who choose to hurt kids??
that piece of shit will be kept in solitary 23 hours a day most likley to keep him from being raped or killed or both by the general prisoner community mores the pity because he would deserve every second of it.
