Nothing Natural about “Perfect” Breasts

“Americans love big breasts. And that’s bad, because if you gain weight to get bigger breasts, you might get fatter, and here in America, we hate fat… ‘Our societal standard is a woman who’s thin, toned and muscular, and has curves, mainly in the breasts,’ said David Sarwer, a psychologist at the Penn Med School’s Center for Human Appearance. ‘That collection of features rarely occurs in nature.’ Hollywood deceives us in many ways, he said, by carefully positioning, lighting, airbrushing and digitally enhancing women to look more like this ideal. So not surprisingly, about a third of American women report they are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their breasts, said Sarwer. Each year, more than 250,000 get breast implants… I could see [disproportions or irregularities] in maybe a few of the ‘before’ pictures [of women who received implants], but most of them looked fine. Why would they want to go under the knife? The clue appears a little lower, where the ribs jut out. These were skinny women. They looked like they needed pasta, not major surgery. One was listed as 5′6′ and 110 pounds. Breasts are mostly fat. How can the body maintain them when it’s deprived of the vital building material?” —Seattle Times (US)

It’s nothing new to say that society inflicts certain ideals on people and that breast size is one such ideal that women struggle to live up to. But still, this article makes a good point. Tits are fat, thin is in — and that’s a contradiction. Breast implants are just a way of simulating fat on an otherwise lean body.

When you look at it that way, you can see just how unnatural the current ideal is. To want big tits on a little body is to want to be fat and thin at the same time. It makes no sense. It’s like wanting to be tall and short simultaneously. It just won’t work, at least not without prosthetic or surgical enhancement. The article describes how Eve Ensler, author of the Vagina Monologues, even contemplated attaining the ideal by a reverse strategy: building up enough body fat to get big tits and then having the rest lipsuctioned away. At least that strategy would endow her with breasts that both look and feel good, since if you’ve ever touched an implant you know that it’s about as sexy as an IV bag.

And that leads to a fundamental issue. Women want implants in order to look good. But what’s the point of looking good when your body fails to meet expectations the moment somebody touches it? Doesn’t that end up disappointing the people who really matter — your intimates? No wonder there are so many porn sites touting “big naturals” and so few touting “big implants.” A small natural breast feels better in the hand than a big implant. The sexy thing is to make the most of what you have.

A woman does not need a big set of tittes to be sexy! Does this need repeated? Women get breast jobs for a lot of reasons: egotistical boyfriends, self-esteem, to become a more attractive package (for various reasons)ect. Hey girls! you with the big plastic boobs! guess what? you’re a fucking joke! You look like a freak. What makes a woman sexy? Her mystery, her mind, her attitude, her honesty and her ability to communicate in an intelligent manner. All of that is a hell of a lot better than some barbi doll.
Please don’t waste your mind on boob jobs, spend it on a college education.

I, for one, love the big ‘ol hooters. I don’t care how they got there. I like to see those gentle white orbs bulging out the sides of a swimsuit or bubbling up from underneath a low-cut blouse.

Thanks, “womanlover.” Well said. When will the world, or the United States, wake up & learn that sex appeal comes in all sizes and types?

Big boobs are NOT a requirement for being beautiful, sexy, or attractive. Sure, they attract attention…but rarely is it worthwhile attention. I don’t have anything against women who get implants. It’s their decision, their money, their bodies, their health they’re putting at risk. However, that money could be put to better use. My opinion. I’m small-busted too & I’ve often been made to feel that small breasts are “ugly” and “manly”, while big ones are “sexy” and “beautiful” and “feminine” and “womanly”.

Hmm…this simply isn’t true. A woman’s reproductive organs are what make her a woman, not two bouncy melons on her chest. Breasts aren’t reproductive organs in the true sense of the word. I have seen a *few* women with slim, tiny frames & extremely big natural breasts. My mother and one of my aunts fits that description. However, they are in a very small minority. MOST women in the D, DD, & above cup sizes tend to have larger builds overall. Large breasts often have stretch marks and they sag, even in teenage girls. A D or DD-sized bust is more believable & more attractive on a woman who is fairly tall or medium height, around 145-160 pounds, maybe a size 14-16. This size bust is too large for a woman who probably weighs very little, has a small frame, & does not have the ability to withstand the weight of heavy breasts pulling her forward, which can lead to back pain.

We live in a world that is chock full o’double standards. A woman who has beautiful breasts receives more attention. Cosmo never features a cover without cleavage. Beauty queens duct tape their breasts together to achieve cleavage. Every men’s magazine is splattered with large-breasted women — and those are just the “regular” men’s magazines.

Girls are teased from puberty on about their breasts. I know because I was one of them. People talk about a woman’s breasts AS IF THEY ARE A REGULAR TOPIC OF CONVERSATION. Sorry — caps for emphasis. People talk about breasts as if they are discussing the price of ground beef at the local Shop ‘n Save.

If a woman wants to get breast implants, is it any surprise? And believe it or not, the variety of implants that are available now are much, much better looking than they used to be. Women don’t have to get that “grapefruit in a tube sock” look if they do their homework.

If a woman feels sexier as a result of her breast augmentation, isn’t that achieving the same effect as if she felt sexy in the first place? Isn’t confidence sexy? That’s the whole point, right? Well, walk around in a flat-chested girl’s body for 30 years — and then come talk to me about how easy it is to feel sexy in a world that puts more emphasis on breast size than it does on — yes — education.

A woman can be smart and STILL feel inadequate. A woman can be beautiful, sexy, intelligent, well-educated, confident in every other area of her life…and still wish she had a reason to wear a bra.

It’s really not up to anyone but her.
