“Kenyan police have arrested a man accused of strangling to death a goat with which he was having sex in a region where reported acts of bestiality are increasing, officials said on Thursday. The 22-year-old suspect, who tried to kill himself after being caught with the female goat in Kenya’s central Rift Valley province, is to be charged with attempted suicide and ‘engaging in unnatural acts’, they said. ‘The goat died as a result of strangulation,’ said Ndaya Ngalia, a local government official in the province’s Bomet district where the assault took place overnight on Tuesday. After being scared off by the goat’s owner and neighbours, the man hid but was discovered by villagers at whom he threw stones before running away and jumping into a pond in an apparent bid to take his life, said Ngalia. The incident, first made public by the state-run Kenyan News Agency (KNA), is the second known case of such behaviour in the past three months in Bomet where villagers say largely unreported acts of bestiality may be a growing trend. In June, a cobbler suspected of sorcery was attacked and nearly lynched by outraged residents after being caught having sex with a female sheep. The man, who witnesses said had earlier been seen having sex with a dog, admitted assaulting the ewe. District commissioner Samuel Otieno, however, downplayed fears that Bomet is winning a dubious reputation as a hub of bestiality. ‘These things happen all over the world, there is nothing peculiar about Bomet,’ he said.” —News24.com (South Africa)

He delights in the flailing movements of the wings, the constrictions of the bird’s nether parts. Even if you’re not sadistic, you can at least follow his descriptions of the act. It’s an imaginable sort of thing — but it becomes much harder to imagine with a goat. Goats are pretty tough animals. It’s hard to imagine strangling one while standing naked behind it. Maybe you could garrotte it with a length of rope while buggering it, though this would still run the risk of a sharp hoof planted in a private place. But how could you possibly manage to strangle it with your hands while behind it? It must have been a small goat, or the guy must have had long, strong arms.

That being said, it’s interesting to note that residents of Bomet are worried about becoming a “hub” of bestiality. For a year PervScan has been writing about a veritable wave of bestiality stories. Is it a perversion that’s becoming more common, thanks to the corrupting influence of internet pornography? Or is it simply becoming more visible, thanks to the internet-fueled expansion of news media? Probably it’s the latter. The villagers say that most bestiality goes unreported — probably that is what’s changing, the willingness that people have to speak about bestiality, not the amount of bestiality itself. This must particularly be true in a village where the extent of bestiality is determined by its citizenry’s familiarity with animals. If anything, this familiarity itself could be decreasing, and it’s the chances to speak about it that are increasing.
