Cobra Bites Man’s Testicles
“The source said that in the evening of June 10, this year, Mahmoud allegedly stole the sheep from Opanin Mensah’s pen and tied the animals on his bicycle. While riding on the bicycle with the animals, he saw Opanin Mensah, who was then on his way back from the farm, approaching him. Sensing danger, Mahmoud quickly released the sheep from the bicycle, entered the bush, removed his trousers and squatted near an anthill pretending to be attending to nature’s call, allegedly to divert attention of Opanin Mensah from him. Unknown to him, a cobra which was lying in the shrub, close to where he was squatting drew closer, and bit his manhood. Mahmoud’s cry for help attracted the attention of Opanin Mensah who came to his rescue and with the help of a group of farmers who were on their way to a nearby village, managed to kill the snake. The source said Mahmoud then in pains, begged for forgiveness from Opanin Mensah for the theft and pleaded that they save his life by taking him to the hospital. He unfortunately died while being sent to the Donkorkrom hospital.” —Ghanaweb.com (US)
While it is never nice to laugh at somebody else’s death, sometimes you just can’t help it. Perhaps death is never funny itself, since even a man who dies from a snakebite to the balls will be mourned by his loved ones, but often there are other perspectives from which a death gains in levity. As an extreme example, somebody recently told PervScan a story about 9/11 that was probably the first funny story about that awful day that PervScan ever heard. Not that there weren’t many ironies about 9/11, but there were few things — if anything — genuinely humorous about it. After all, how can you make light of so many people dying? In fact, the humor of the story derived precisely from the circumstance that the person in question, though in New York at the time, didn’t know 9/11 had happened until relatively late on that fateful day.
Anyway, while the family of the deceased no doubt mourns the victim as much as any family mourns its dead, you still can’t help but see the comicality of the situation. The utter horror called to mind by the image of a snake biting a man’s balls is transformed into humor by the simple thought that the guy deserved it. Isn’t that some sort of appropriate punishment for stealing from a defenseless old man? Indeed, the whole story is practically a parable with an obvious moral: it’s wrong to steal, and it’s dumb to crap on a cobra.
Number two in the bush is worth a look before you squat.
This is like one of those Aesop’s Fables at the end of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
So what’s the funny 9/11 story?
