Parrot Squawks Mistress’s Name to Man’s Wife
“An Israeli who taught his pet parrot the name of his mistress now faces divorce — after the bird kept squawking it to his wife. The wife grew suspicious when the parrot kept greeting her with the strange name, and hired a detective to unravel the mystery, the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported on Thursday. It said pictures taken by the detective were now being used as evidence in the divorce court, showing the husband and mistress in a compromising position — with the parrot right next to them. The woman might not have forgiven the husband, but she forgave the pet, the report said — teaching it a new greeting. There are days when it’s hard to know whether this web site ought to be called PervScan or just DumbScan. Often the things that pass for “perverse” behavior are acts of pure idiocy with a thin veneer of libido over them. Consider this Israeli guy. He’s cheating on his wife. Unless he’s indifferent to her and really wants to separate, in which case he might deliberately try to leave obvious clues about his philandering ways, it makes absolutely no sense to teach a parrot the name of his mistress. Ok, maybe it was funny for a short while. There he was eating dinner with his wife and the parrot kept squawking the other woman’s name. Unlike Poe’s raven, whose insistent “nevermore” made the narrator of that poem more melancholy, this parrot’s squawking might have made the guy laugh. Maybe he hated his wife and enjoyed the thought of her being mocked by a dumb bird. But after a week or two of this, it’s hard to see that it still would have been humorous or enjoyable anymore — which leads you to conclude that the guy was just plain dumb. He thought his wife was dumb — he thought she wouldn’t figure it out — but really she wasn’t and he was. D-U-M-B dumb. It’s guys like this who give perversion a bad name.
