GOP Happier with Sex Than Dems
“American Sex Lives 2004, a new ‘Primetime Live’ sex poll conducted in conjunction with the ABC News Polling Unit, is among the most comprehensive surveys of its kind in decades and establishes a new, detailed picture of sex attitudes and behavior in America today… The poll analysis includes a breakdown by many subgroups, including region, age and even political party affiliation, which is the topic of results released today: Of those involved in a committed relationship, who is very satisfied with their relationship? Republicans ó 87 percent; Democrats ó 76 percent. Who is very satisfied with their sex life? Republicans ó 56 percent; Democrats ó 47 percent. The poll analysis also reveals who has worn something sexy to enhance their sex life: Republicans ó 72 percent; Democrats ó 62 percent. When asked whether they had ever faked an orgasm, more Democrats (33 percent) than Republicans (26 percent) said they had.” —ABC News (US)

It’s hard to know exactly what to make of this correlation between political party and sexual contentment. Republicans tend to be more prosperous than Democrats, so perhaps there is a relationship between wealth and good sex? (As Grandma used to say, “It’s just as easy to love a rich man as a poor one.” And maybe it’s even easier.) The authors of the article also speculate that the political difference really masks a gender difference, as Republicans are more likely to be men and men are more likely to claim that they’re sexually satisfied. Furthermore, Democrats are more likely to be women and women are more likely to fake orgasms.
You can’t help but wonder, though, if these sex differences extend all the way up to the party leadership. Republicans are more likely to wear something sexy? You can easily imagine President Bush putting on some bikini shorts. Democrats fake more orgasms? It’s not easy to imagine John Kerry faking an orgasm, but it’s easier to imagine him faking one than having one for real. And to consider another prominent Democrat, it’s too bad Bill Clinton didn’t fake more orgasms. He might not have left Monica with that dangerous little stain on her infamous blue dress…
There is also another aspect: lower social classes and less educated people are statistically more satisfied with their sexual life than higher educated people. This is known since the 1960ies.
Can you cite a source for that? Also, I challenge you to show me a statistic that Dems have lower education that Repubs.
