First Grader Punished for ‘Exposure’
“An East Bay mother believes that her first grader is being punished for doing something he didn’t even know was wrong… [The boy was sent to the principal when] his first-grade teacher said he exposed his bottom in the restroom for the second time. But [the mother] says her son simply had the habit of going to the bathroom with his pants lowered. ‘It’s absurd, ludicrous, to assume that a six-year-old child will have any sexual exhibitionist desire,’ [the mother] said.” —CBS5.com (US)
Let’s get this straight. A six-year-old had to pee. Rather than use his zipper, he pulled his pants down. The other boys saw his buttocks. The teacher assumed the young boy was getting exhibitionistic kicks and sent him to the principal? Man, this definitely gets the Hysterical Overreaction of the Week award. It’s hard to believe somebody could even be a teacher if he were to overreact like this.
In fact, it makes you wonder. Maybe the child was deliberately mooning his classmates and, when challenged about it, claimed he was just trying to pee? It wouldn’t be a matter of “sexual exhibitionist desire” but of impishness and lies, which would be more credible than that the teacher mistook peeing for exhibitionism. Either way, it all sounds like much ado about nothing.
i wouldn’t put it beyond a teacher to react like that, in light of personal experience. i’m just in the middle of harmful to minors and the pitiful amusement factor is just mounting.

I used to get quite a bit of crap for doing the same think when I was that age. No one ever complained to the teacher, though…
That is so silly. That is simply how little boys go to the bathroom. And then, magically, in middle school you notice that all of the boys now unzip instead of letting the trousers fall free, and you start to do the same. For heavens sakes, everyone goes through the same cycle, and sex was the last thing on that poor little boy´s mind.
