Indian Girl Given Hormones for Sex Trade
“Indian police have rescued a 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped five years ago when she was just seven and fed hormones to prepare her for prostitution, a newspaper has reported. Along with another young girl thought to have been kidnapped when she was four, she was freed in a weekend raid on a hideout at Agra, home to the Taj Mahal, the Hindu daily said on Tuesday. No age was given for the second girl. Police have arrested eight people, including two married couples, who they said admitted injecting the girls with hormones to speed their growth so they could be sold to pimps in Bombay.” —Reuters (UK)

This story has two ironies and one astonishment. The first irony is that, while most women struggle to make themselves look younger, the procurers in this story are struggling to make their trainee hookers look older. Which leads to the second irony that, given the net-fueled surge in child pornography and prostitution, the procurers are probably demonstrating a lack of financial sense by trying to age their young victims. The girls would probably be worth more money as children than as women. (Which makes you wonder: are the pimps in India somewhat ethical about the age of their hookers?)
And the astonishing thing in this story is that it may well be among the first examples of applying the techniques of biotechnology to prostitution. Think about it. Farmers try to grow better tomatoes by modifying them genetically. Professional athletes try to enhance their performance levels by ingesting steroids. Why wouldn’t hookers and pimps get involved with some kind of similar business? It’s eugenics revived by hedonism and lust. At this very moment there is probably a mad-scientist pimp somewhere trying to figure out how to breed a better hooker. No wonder Britney Spears’ gum is selling for so much on ebay these days. There are probably guys trying to get a DNA sample from it so they can crossbreed Britney with the sluttiest, easiest girls they can find.
