Rat Urine Bad for Breasts

Chongqing Commercial News says Yang Qunying, 50, mistakenly believed the folk prescription would help increase her sexual urge. She set some bait in her pigsty, guided the female rat to excrete in a bowl, and collected urine. Maybe the medical personnel among you readers can explain why drinking rat piss would cause somebody’s breasts to swell. Cyclomastopathy appears to be a pretty rare disorder of the mammae — so rare that if you google the term, most of the links you get are to copies of this very story. Apparently it has something to do with benign breast tumors, since cyclomastopathy seems to have been defined by a 1934 article in the American Journal of Cancer. (Cf Oliver RL, Major RC. 1934. “Cyclomastopathy: a physio-pathological conception of some benign breast tumors, with an analysis of four hundred cases.” Am J Cancer 21:1.) But still, however unpalatable it may be to drink rat piss, it seems relatively unlikely that it could cause you to get breast tumors. You can drink human urine without fear of mastectomy, why should rat urine be so different?
Probably it was just a coincidence that this Chinese lady got tumors while drinking little bowls full of vermine urine. But still, if they were benign tumors, maybe a regimen of rat piss would make a decent alternative to getting breast implants. You could probably sell it at health-food stores to flat-chested women who are into natural and organic food products. You’d just have to come up with a different name for it. They aren’t going to buy ‘Tit-Swelling Rat Piss.’

Cancerous mammary tumors are more rare and probably only occur in about 5% of female rats. Mammary tumors can occur in male rats but are relatively rare.” Although I am not sure why her digestive tract or immune system did not destroy the cancerous cells but it may have been possible for the tumor cells in the rat to relocate to the bladder or kidneys and then into the urine of the rat. This is called metastasis: “The spread of a primary cancer or tumor from one part of the body to another. When cancer cells metastasize and cause secondary tumors, the cells in the metastatic tumor are like those in the original cancer.” The question then becomes was the tumor in her breasts rat or human?
