No increased risk of prostate cancer was seen in men who reported more frequent ejaculations, and there appeared to be a decreased risk in men with the highest reported levels. The two highest activity levels — 13 to 20 ejaculations a month, and at least 21 a month — were linked with decreased cancer risks of 14 percent and 33 percent respectively. This story has been floating around out there in the media for the last few months, sometimes surging, sometimes receding, like the tide. Funnily enough, many if not most of the people who comment on it seem to take it as a justification of masturbation, rather than an endorsement of promiscuity in general. Maybe that’s because of the hidden story in those numbers. The average guy in this study only ejaculated about once a week or so. And apparently these same guys must not be able to conceive that there are others who can ejaculate three or four times a week unless they’re wanking off.
To look at it another way, it will be interesting to see how cultures that praise or practice celibacy will cope with this information. You can imagine old “saints” who don’t get prostate cancer being shunned because they’re suspected of touching themselves too much. Or conversely you can imagine holy men who wear their cancer like a badge of honor. “I’ve got cancer of the prostate. I’m not a wanker.”
Not that there is any real pride to be had there, since in light of this research a vow of celibacy is an invitation to death — and it seems foolish to take pride in making yourself sick. Then again, religions tend to twist things around, to create an ideology in which suffering is good, and so just as some fanatics take pride in wearing hair shirts or beating themselves with whips, maybe some other extremists will take pride in cultivating cancer by means of celibacy.

The fact that you can wank off at all with the stuff you’re on is amazing. I tried paxil for a few months and it totally killed my sex drive (which was in itself depressing). Oh and the author was referring to people who ejaculate 3 or 4 times a week, not a day.

well.i’m a compulsive wanker,i average 3 per day,every day, i shouldn’t get cancer.
I don’t wank thirteen or twenty one times a month, as it is a little two excessive for me. If I do it, I do it because it feels good, not because it can prevent prostate cancer to a certain extent. It’s not something I just do “whenever”. I do it mostly on the weekends, when I am relaxed, and mostly between 1-3 times during then.
