Grandma — the very word makes you think of knitting and good old-fashioned home cooking. Chocolate chip cookies baked by someone who loves to spoil you. But probably that’s not the image that the two young granddaughters think of when they hear the word “grandma.” After all, their grandma was conspiring to pimp them — to an ex-con, no less. Jesus. You have to wonder what kind of world it is in which grandmothers prostitute their grandchildren to prison inmates. You’d like to think that maybe she has Alzheimer’s and thus wasn’t quite aware of what a dastardly deed she was doing, but it must not be the case since the judge handed her a prison sentence likely to exceed her life span.

About the only other excuse you can imagine is that maybe she was trying to pull a fast one on the inmate. Maybe she was going to get him to pay her for the kids, then she was going to lam out of town with the money before he could get his “release.” If that’s what she was doing, she’d still be a criminal granny — a sinful septuagenarian — but it wouldn’t be half so bad as pimping her own grandkids.
