Oral Sex Linked to Mouth Cancer

Some cases of mouth cancer could be caused by a virus contracted during oral sex, scientists have warned. Writing in New Scientist magazine, US researchers said the human papilloma virus, which causes most cervical cancers, may also cause oral tumours. Experts say heavy smoking or drinking causes most mouth cancers, but the HPV link could help explain why some young adults develop the rare disease. But they stressed people did not need to alter their behaviour. Oral cancer is rare, and tobacco and alcohol are by far the biggest causes.” — BBC (UK)

Half the newspapers that reported this story started off something like, “Well, that sucks!” However, although the statistics do show a convincing correlation between (giving) oral sex and (receiving) mouth cancer, apparently the odds are relatively small. It’s like saying, “Don’t cross the street or you might get hit by a bus.” Well, yeah, it might happen, and you’d be wise to look both ways before crossing, but otherwise don’t let that stop you. So too with oral sex. Make sure you know what you’re putting in your mouth — but otherwise don’t let that “alter your behavior,” as the scientists say.

Then again, somehow you can just hear the scientists unzipping their pants at the end of the study there. It must be hard to maintain your disinterested objectivity when it’s a matter of discouraging people from rubbing their warm, wet tongues against your most sensitive parts. Doesn’t every researcher in a situation such as this have a conflict of interest? As a scientist, you want truth, but as a living organism, you want pleasure. How do you arbitrate between the two? To be truly objective, sexuality research would probably have to be conducted by robots.

Then again, since ultimately robots are programmed by humans, that probably wouldn’t work either. Perverted coders would program the bots to get voyeuristic kicks from the sight of their flesh-and-blood subjects getting kinky.

I would say not to worry about the oral cancer related to oral/genital relations. IF it is caused by the human papilloma virus, probably not everyone has this virus, and even if someone has it, the chances of having oral cancer is rare. You will hear that a myriad of things can cause cancer, but you can’t live with your head in the sand all the time. I heard that it was not a good idea to eat the fish skin from salmon because of the PCBs that might be there, which might lead to cancer, but I do it anyway. I also heard that too much sun is not good, but I don’t really thing about it when I go out. If I were into oral sex, I would say “fuck it, I don’t care about any cancer! If I get some growth, I’d somehow manage to get it removed!”. Like this article says, most oral cancer comes from smoking and heavy drinking.

” You will hear that a myriad of things can cause cancer “.

On the head, Anonimous! (No pun intended) How about we come to accept that cancer is with us. It’s developing in each new gene. Would I be going Too far to say it’s natures way of ridding herself if us?

Point is; It’s getting so that, if someone developes a cancer, Someone will look at their lifestyle and say, ” Oh. Well this person ate some, sometime. That’ll be the cause. ”

Christ. I even read that Japanese scientists had figured out that Coltsfoot tisane was ” Linked ” to liver cancer. Oh really? People have drank Coltsfoot tea for millenia. What it does is sort out a chesty cough.

My own cousin died of liver cancer. Never even heard of Coltsfoot. But he sure as hell spent much of his life swallowing, sniffing or injecting just about any substance known as a ‘Drug’ he could get his hands on. Has any scientist yet said ‘Treating ones body as a battlefield enemy is linkable to cancer’?

That cousins father died of lung cancer. He was a medium smoker. But they told him, before he died (obviously) the cancer was due to a scar, left on his lung after he had phneumonia while serving in the Parachute Regiment during his early twenties. F*ck all to do with wether he later had a puff or not.

Sorry to ‘rant’. Especially when there’s nothing pervy about it. But there’s nothing pervy about cancer. Except the perverse Genes which we recieve in our genome and which are picking us off, regardless of life style or habit.

Yeah, there is nothing pervy about cancer, except for the fact that it is a perverse condition that won’t heed rhyme or reason!
