No Time to Vote, I’m Having Sex!

“A woman claimed she was having group sex with 30 men in Nimbin, NSW, and could not get to a polling booth in Queensland on time to vote. That is the all-time best excuse, according to electoral commissioner Bob Longland. Hundreds of people have already contacted the Electoral Commission of Queensland offering reasons for their no-show as 2.2Ýmillion others voted in the FebruaryÝ7 state poll… The most common excuse was illness, closely followed by cars, boats and planes with kaput engines.” — News.com.au (Australia)

Evidently voting must be compulsory there in Queensland, else people wouldn’t have to offer up excuses for why they don’t show up at the booths. Most of the excuses people give are pretty flimsy — I was sick, my boat broke on the way to the polls, and so forth. Which makes the Gangbang Defense all the more striking. What sort of person would admit to a complete stranger, a bureaucrat, that she couldn’t vote because she was getting stupped by a small town’s worth of penises? Was it a good joke? A deliberate attempt to shock? Or was it really just the truth? After all, it must not be easy to coordinate a gangbang like that. All the penises probably have conflicting schedules.

Here in America, voting is not compulsory, so we don’t have such excuses floating around. If anything, we have the opposite problem. We all know a certain ex-president who might have said, “No time to govern, I’m having sex!”

actually he had time to govern and have sex too, but it was the blackhearted republicans who objected to both his governance and his sexual frolics — even those who had their own sexual pecadillos and youthful indiscretions.
