Porn Videos Arouse Women
“A research by scientists from Stanford University School of Medicine in California claims that the fair sex is also turned on by pornography… Researchers showed random clips from erotic films and relaxation videos to 20 women to monitor their effects. They found that the women were fully aroused in an average of just two minutes after watching explicit eroticism… the findings have challenged the age-old held view that only men enjoy watching pornography. Alan Riley, professor of sexual medicine at the University of Central Lancashire, said that research over the past 20 years has revealed that more women were responding to explicit erotic videos rather than soft romantic films.” — Hindustan Times (India)
The newspaper gave this story the title “Porn Videos Arouse Women More Than Men,” which was misleading. The story doesn’t state that women are aroused more than men. It states that women get aroused just like men do. It also states that, if women aren’t “ready” (whatever that means) to watch pornography, it can terrify them.
Those seem like pretty obvious conclusions. Combine them with the data showing that an increasing number of women are viewing porn thanks to the internet, and you’ve got a second feminist revolution — or maybe devolution, depending on your perspective. What it all amounts to, probably, is the banal truth that everyone is curious about sex. The internet makes it easy to satisfy this curiosity, so everyone — men, women, and children — satisfies it.
It’s kind of a no-brainer, but with this exception. When you learn about it on the internet, it’s not really sex you learn about. It’s perversion. It’s bestiality, fetishism, pedophilia, S&M, everything but the consummate act itself. What you have, therefore, is people learning the extreme but not the essence — the cum shot rather than the mutual orgasm.
I’ve taken this up as a story[1] and tracked down the actual paper. I really am considering getting a copy of the paper in my copious free time; it would be fascinating to know what the study really means behind the media hype.
