You could separate necrophiles into two classes, active and passive. Active necrophiles would be the ones who actually kill their victims before molesting them, and passive necrophiles would be the opportunistic type — perverts who dig up graves, break into funeral homes, apply for shit jobs in the morgue just to be near the dead bodies. Evidently the necrophile in this story is the latter type, not a murderer but a scavenger, not a killer but an aficionado of the killed. And if that’s the case, who cares if he lives next door?

It’s understandable that parents get alarmed when a pedophile moves in across the street. But what should it matter if a necrophile buys the house next door? It’s not like he is going to molest you or your family, unless you happen to be dead. It’s not like he’s going to break into your house, unless you happen to keep dead bodies in there. Just as convicted pedophiles are usually required to keep away from schools and playgrounds, passive necrophiles need only keep away from graveyards, crematoria, ossuaries, charnel houses. So if “home sweet home” is not a funeral home, why worry?
