Skin Tips for Sex Criminals
“A Connecticut mother was arrested and charged with providing her two daughters, both under 16, to a 48-year-old man to use in a child-sex video… On the video, the man having sex with the children had distinctive tattoos that police officials said had helped lead them to Mr. Cohen. The tattoos included the name ‘Ismael’ on his left hand; a heart, pierced with an arrow and the initials ‘U.S.M.C.’ on his right hand; and a knife through a globe with an anchor on his left biceps, according to a state police report.” — New York Times (US)
“A man known for his distinctive teddy bear tattoo was arrested Tuesday morning in Lakewood, charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in her Centennial home. Paul Michael Harland, 32, is being held on $1 million bail on suspicion of felony sexual assault on a child, unlawful sexual conduct, burglary and misdemeanor indecent exposure after a national DNA database linked him to the crime.” — Rocky Mountain News (US)
Tattoos are cool. Piercings are all the rage. Body modification is the in thing. But if you want to be a sex criminal, consider being a square, a geek, a nerd. Keep yourself clean, pristine, and therefore anonymous. Because when you tattoo your name on your fist — how hard do you think it was to locate an ex-Marine named Ismael? — or when you’re the only ex-con in the neighborhood with a silly tattoo of a teddy bear, it greatly enhances the odds that you’re going to get caught for whatever nefarious deeds you commit. You might as well just tell your victims your name, address, and phone number. Then you can go to jail and get some more tattoos.
And consider this too. Even if you don’t particularly want to be a sex criminal, even if you’re just into body modification for its own sake, your life will inevitably obey the following formula: the more you make your body distinct, the easier it is to identify you. The easier it is to identify you, the more you have to remain within legal bounds. Therefore body modification, far from being a rebellion against society, is actually a way of obliging yourself to play by society’s rules. The tattooed man can’t disappear into the crowd.
I was told by someone that men with teddybears tattoos were gay. Maybe that person was wrong.
Just because a guy raped a ten-year-old girl doesn’t mean he isn’t gay. From the waist-up, she probably looked like another boy anyway…
