Meat-for-Sex Swap

Women have also lost the usual advertisement of fertility — heat — and are always open to sex. Men, who have high levels of testosterone, which increases their sex drive, are then lured into hunting and sharing meat by the promise of continuous sex from these menstruating, sexy women. There are some easy jokes you can make about this evolutionary meat-for-sex swap. You can laugh that this is why you have to wine and dine a girl before she’ll sleep with you, or you can say that this is why the penis is also called meat.
But really it makes a lot of sense to look at evolution this way. For example it explains why hunting and, by extension, violence are considered macho, even sexy. If the man with the most blood on his hands gets the girl, is it not logical to fetishize the thrust of the knife? The problem, of course, is when some guys get sick of being manipulated. They say to themselves, “Why do I have to keep beating the bush just to get a little nookie? I’m sick of getting chased around the savannah by man-eating beasts.” And so rather than exercise their violence on wild boars, they turn it directly on the women. “You want meat, bitch? Here — here’s your meat,” and they force themselves on her. From the vantage point of evolution, perhaps that is all rape is: carnivorism misdirected.
