Foot Licker Gets 18 Months in Jail
“A man accused of licking a woman’s feet in a Bellingham grocery store was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to assault just before his trial was to begin… His attorney asked for a sentence of two years of counseling, but Judge Paul Losapio said counseling wasn’t sufficient for Dublin, a two-time convicted sex offender who just completed a one-year sentence on similar foot-licking charges at a Woonsocket, R.I., supermarket. ‘I don’t know what type of counseling someone could undergo for this kind of behavior,’ [the judge] said.” — New York Newsday (US)
Just because the judge can’t imagine an effective type of therapy for treating this foot fetish doesn’t mean the guy should receive an eighteen-month sentence (which is rather stiff, but at least it’s not as bad as the guy who received a life sentence for the same fetish). When you think about it, you can imagine all kinds of ways of dealing with a foot fetish. You could condition the guy to lick his own feet, so that whenever he really felt the need he could satisfy himself without breaking the law. Or you could take the opposite approach and try aversive conditioning — force the guy to lick thousands and thousands of feet, ugly feet, old feet, feet with corns and warts and in-grown toenails — in an effort to disabuse him of his fetish.
Or, to take a more open-minded approach, perhaps the guy could form a new type of sport. You divide a group of people into two teams, the Foots and the Tongues, and then the Tongues chase the Foots around parking lots. It could be like dodge ball, so that whoever gets tongued is out of the game, or perhaps like freeze tag, so that whoever gets licked is frozen in place till another Foot comes along and rescues him… Such a sport would enable the guy to fulfill his foot fetish with like-minded people, and in this age of “extreme” sports, it might even become primetime entertainment. The guy could get rich selling ads for odor-eaters and wart removers. There could be foot-fetish championships, awards for the fleetest feet and the Most Valuable Tongue.

How is it that a man gets 18 months in prison simply for licking a woman’s feet. Rapists and child molesters usually don’t get that much prison time. The judge in this case shouldn’t be trying cases in the courthouse, he should be shining people’s shoes outside of it.
