A Wife Full of Hot Air

“A man who considered an inflatable doll his ‘bride’ killed his parents because they demanded that he divorce her and damaged the sex toy… The 44-year-old unemployed man apparently confessed to the crime… ‘The man thought the doll was a human being, called her his ‘bride’ and talked to her,’ an acquaintance of the family was quoted as saying. But his parents, who were religious, demanded that he separate from the doll. When the mother took a scissors and cut holes in the man’s ‘bride’, the man strangled and stabbed his father, age 70, and mother, age 71. ‘My parents didn’t love me and didn’t understand me,’ the man was quoted as saying.” — Independent Online (South Africa)

Critics of modern society lament the disintegration of the nuclear family — the rise in divorce rates, single-parent families, working moms, latch-key kids. And yet perhaps these same critics would be heartened to know that there are still men — such as the man who married his dog or now this one who married his love doll — to whom marriage is truly a sacred bond. Even in the face of the harshest ridicule from society, these men “do the right thing” and bring honor to their mates by marrying them.

And if these radical new relationship choices cause women to complain about being left out, in much the same spirit as factory workers complain about automation putting them out of work, they should think deeply about what a man looks for in marriage. Perhaps if women would only follow the example set by love dolls and dogs — both of whom make loyal, uncomplaining spouses — men would not resort to inanimate objects and unthinking beasts.

i think this story is sad, he was so lonely he thought a doll was his wife. But there were probably underline problems with the parents and the doll was the last straw.
