At first sight, this seems like a pretty sick story, an experiment in a perverse form of behavioral conditioning. B.F. Skinner, the famous behaviorist, claimed that a child was a blank slate who could be trained to believe anything, and this case would seem to bear him out: show porno films to a toddler and what does he turn out to be? A seven-year-old porn fiend. QED. Case closed.
But then if you think about it, and you read the ways in which the boy was “acting out,” is he really so different than any other boy his age? All boys prefer porn to cartoons — it’s just that, before cable television, porn was not so easy to find. All boys like to be hugged by busty women and look up girls’ skirts and peep on women who sleep naked. Far from being aberrant behavior, this seems perfectly normal. It only becomes abnormal when either the boy (a) devotes an inordinate amount of time to it — in other words, he genuinely becomes obsessed with sex — or (b) he acts aggressive toward other children (and even here there is a fine line between consensual “playing doctor” and vicious sexual behavior). Since the article does not indicate that the boy crossed either of those two lines, it’s hard to feel that, in spite of his inadvertent pornographic conditioning, he’s doing anything so wrong.

Hmmm, well being a psychology major this is a very interesting case. Unfortunately I see no reference to any kind of report on any of these topics. I would suggest that these stories, if true, are referenced for academic and psychological research. If this case in particular had, or does have, a supporting evidence to it then it would pass for a childrens development topic and abnormal psychology research. This could be very useful, however, it is really just sensationalism until actually presented as a refenced fact. Please prove me wrong I would really like to use some these topics as research, thus showing me the legitimacy of these claims makes my class research alot closer.
