Forget about an IPO from Google. Forget about the Tech Sector. This would be just the thing for the slumping economy: the Sex Sector. Put whorehouses on the Nasdaq, brothels on the Dow-Jones. It would make the internet stock bubble look like small beans. A lot of people would get rich quick… Though few of these would be sex workers, of course. They’d be sex investors, sex brokers, sex speculators. Imagine a futures market in hookers!

David John Wade’s new book, Millionaires and Models, is a must read for anyone who ever thought of visiting a prostitute, who has ever visited a prostitute and who has ever thought of becoming one, is or was one.
Coming from a male perspective- first as one who enforced the laws which prohibited prostitution and then as one who managed a legal escort service- his surprising candor and expose of societal hypocrisy is refreshing and much needed to shed light on the sex industry.
Although I’ve been retired from the business for a number of years now, I couldn’t help but see myself and some of my former colleagues in many of the “Glamour’s” he hired and trained to work in the world’s oldest profession. And of course, the clients in the Land Down Under are no different at all from those I entertained in Beverly Hills. Sure the names change but human nature is what it is and men are men wherever they live. Thank goodness or where would sex workers be?
I worked for a few “male madams” in Beverly Hills and I have to say that if David had been operating a legal escort service in California when I was active, I wouldn’t have minded working for him at all!
Many women who enter the profession and then decide to switch to management often have the idea that they would like to transform the industry, much like David wanted to do. Having seen the worst aspects of the job up close and personal, they think they will be able to accomplish what other madams have tried and failed. Sometimes women need a strong man to run a woman’s business. Kudos to David for achieving what he set out to do!
His book ought to be a must read for students and professors who think they know what prostitution is all about!
